About Us
The S.I.G.M.A. Foundation of Georgia, Inc. is a non-profit organization created and designed to articulate and promote the needs and goals of the youth in College Park, East Point, and Clayton County, Georgia. The non-profit was founded by members of the Zeta Alpha Sigma chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. to help further the aims of the organization through a greater awareness of and commitment to the needs of the south Atlanta community.
The major societal impact of the foundation lies in promoting and assisting in the continuing education of the youth in the community. In its effort to remain responsive to the needs of the community in general, with strategic focus on education in particular, we support many worthy programs including distributing school supplies to local students and schools, supporting community wellness initiatives and donating to local mentoring programs. In addition to programming support, each April during the chapter’s anniversary, the S.I.G.M.A. Foundation of Georgia promotes an Annual Scholarship Banquet. At the Banquet community and chapter members are honored for their excellence in serving the local population and S.I.G.M.A. Foundation of Georgia awards its scholarship recipients. Since its inception, the S.I.G.M.A. Foundation of Georgia has provided scholarships to students attending the following institutions: University of Georgia, University of West Georgia, Bethune-Cookman University, Miles College, Johnson C. Smith University and Valdosta State University.
